Ryan Jimmo was killed Sunday in a hit-and-run incident following a dispute with another driver.

The former UFC light heavyweight was allegedly struck by a car while walking back to his own car early Sunday morning in Edmonton, according to multiple reports. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was later declared dead. Jimmo was 34 years old.

Jimmo's aunt Sharon confirmed his death with CBC on Sunday night. UFC president Dana White tweeted the news as well.
The Edmonton Police Service has not officially released Jimmo's name as the victim. The police are still seeking the vehicle and parties that perpetrated the alleged hit-and-run.

According to a press release, there was a "brief verbal altercation" between the drivers of separate vehicles in the parking lot of a lounge in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada early Sunday morning. The driver of one vehicle approached the other vehicle on foot. When the man was walking back to his vehicle, the driver of the other vehicle allegedly sped up, struck the man and left the scene.

Cops believe the suspect vehicle was occupied by at least two white males. The incident is being investigated by the homicide section of Edmonton Police Services. The release describes the suspect vehicle as a "dark-colored, older-model pickup truck with an extended cab, and customized with a lift kit, oversized tires and clear taillights."

Jimmo, a native of British Columbia, competed for the UFC between 2012 and 2015. He owns one of the fastest knockouts in UFC history, a seven-second KO of Anthony Perosh at UFC 149 in 2012.

The former Maximum Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion, who trained at Power MMA in Arizona, fought last at UFC Fight Night: Condit vs. Alves in May 2015 against Francimar Barrosso, a unanimous decision loss, and was later released by the UFC. Jimmo's career record stands at 19-5 after nine years as a pro fighter.

Jimmo was a fan favorite for his quirky, robot dance celebrations. Sharon Jimmo said that friendly behavior extended to his every day life.

"He was a people person, he loved everyone. He was so kind," Sharon Jimmo told CBC. "He was a fighter but personally he was a great guy.

"Ryan would help anyone would need it, he was just that kind of guy. He lived his life the way he wanted, he was happy-go-lucky."
