Re: Kane

Re: Kane
At age 45 — far past the age when most of his peers have left the ring for good — Knoxville-area resident Glenn Jacobs isn't ready to give up.
"I have a few more years to go," Jacobs, better know to fans as the monstrous Kane, said during a recent phone interview in which his cell phone reception was crackling.
"I really don't have a specific game plan in mind. I'm still having fun. I'm still having a good time."
After 17 years with World Wrestling Entertainment, Jacobs is now one of the longest-running performers on the big-time professional circuit, a venue that spawned the careers of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and John Cena among others.
Jacobs, who lives in Jefferson County, has made a few moves out of the ring. He starred in the 2006 horror flick "See No Evil," had a cameo in the big-screen comedy "MacGruber" and even showed up in an episode of "Smallville."
But he's more content to keep his hold firmly on his pro-wrestling career. On Sunday night, he'll be in the spotlight for the "Raw vs. Smackdown" non-televised event at the Knoxville Coliseum.
The show begins at 6 p.m. Tickets, ranging from $15 to $95, may be purchased at knoxvilletickets.com.
"As long as I can keep getting in the ring, I want to keep it up," he said of his career.
There's no reason to think that will change anytime soon.
"I've become more and more involved in the creative process of telling the stories," Jacobs said.
Then there's the other advantages. "We get to go around the world and see different places," he said. "Granted we don't get to spend a lot of time there.
"This year we went to Russia for the first time. We went to China for the first time. We went to the United Arab Emirates. It's pretty cool to go around and see different things and cultures."
He's come a long way from his days at Smoky Mountain Wrestling, based in the Knoxville area, where he was known in the ring primarily as the Unabomb. Together with Al Snow back then, the two held the tag team belt and gathered quite a following.
In 1995, he made his debut on "Raw" as Dr. Isaac Yankem, who was supposed to be Jerry Lawler's private dentist.
Presently, he is the co-holder of the WWE Tag Team Championship belt with Daniel Bryan as part of Team Hell No. "We're a tag team that really doesn't work that well together," Jacobs said.
"The (verbal jabs) in between us are quite entertaining. It's a bit more lighthearted than I usually have (in a storyline). It's fun to do and different than what I have done in the past."
Kane has also gone through another transformation. For years he merely grunted and wore a mask over what fans were told was a badly burned face. Then, in recent years, Kane lost the mask and cut his long locks.
His intimidating look was enough to set the tone for his matches.
Now, in another turn, Kane has gone back to wearing a mask and his long hair is back.
All this is done to keep the character fresh.
"I've been doing this for a while, and people have come to respect that," he said. "I am also the last of my generation who works (in the ring) pretty much full time.
"I am always surprising people in doing things they didn't think I could. I like being able to still do that after all these years."

Re: Kane
Kane deu uma entrevista ao NorfolkNavyFlagship.com para promover a WrestleMania. Eis os highlights:
JM: With the unfortunate passing of Paul Bearer, would you like to share how he impacted your career?
K: He was an integral part of my early years as Kane. Without Paul Bearer, there wouldn’t have been a Kane, because he was such an important part of that story. Also, we traveled together for a few years, so it was a loss on a personal level for me as well. He came back and managed me in 2010 when I was World Champion, which was really cool – again against The Undertaker. Just like everyone else, I was a big fan of Paul Bearer and Percy Pringle, and all of the other names that he went by. It was a tough loss for everybody. We went to the viewing and what was really amazing was there were flowers there from all over the country – really, all over the world. It was nice to see an outpouring of affection from fans all over the place.
JM: You’ve been in the WWE for nearly 18 years now. What do you attribute to your longevity?
K: Well, I work hard and I show up. I’ve been very fortunate that I haven’t gotten injured a bunch. I try to take care of myself. I think, too, my size gives me an advantage in some ways. I’m not always the guy getting knocked down a whole lot. My body probably hasn’t been punished as much as the other guys have been. I think it’s because I show up everyday and I try to do my best – give everything I have.
JM: You’re currently one half of the WWE Tag-Team Champions and you’ve had various tag-team partners throughout the years. How would you compare your current partner (Daniel Bryan) to other partners in your past?
K: Well, he’s different – that’s for sure. What’s cool about Daniel Bryan is that I have now been able to do something that I’ve never been able to do before. Kane has always been sort of a dark character. With Daniel Bryan, we’ve been able to add a lot more lightheartedness, some humor and a lot of comedy. It works even better because it’s such a contrast from what I’ve normally done in the past. He’s completely different than any tag-team partner I’ve ever had. He’s a pain – a monumental pain to get along with. It’s like the odd couple, and somehow, I’ve become the voice of sanity. I don’t know how that’s happened – he’ll do that to you.
JM: WrestleMania 29 is coming up (April 7, live on Pay-Per-View) and we know that The Rock will be defending his WWE Championship against John Cena in a rematch from the main event of WrestleMania 28. Do you have a prediction for which way this match will go?
K: I don’t, and who knows – John Cena made the mistake last year at the last stage of their match when he went to do Rock’s People’s Elbow and it cost him the match. I’m not saying that John Cena would take The Rock lightly, but I think this year he’ll be even more serious about it. I think The Rock is going to be in for more than he may have bargained fo
Re: Kane
Após o show, Kane fez uso do twitter para dizer: "First day on the job. #WWEBrussels"
