Re: Brother Devon
O antigo lutador da WWE e TNA Devon deu uma entrevista ao Monday Night Mayhem. Eis os highlights:...
On his first TNA departure and his return: Actually no, some people thought it was a work. They thought we were working them. We actually were not. My contract expired August 29th. That year, last year to be exact. I actually walked away. My opinion and the opinion of many others was that the offer they made me was extremely insulting and I was not going to stand for it. The Thursday before Bound For Glory, I got a phone call with a different offer. It was one that I was definitely OK with. They wanted to talk immediately after the television show. All of that went down literally within hours. About 72 hours from Bound For Glory.
Only about 5 people knew. DOC and Knux literally didn’t know. I came in about halfway through the pay per view. They only knew when we were ready to go out and do the run in.
On what led to his departure: They wanted me to sign for 3 [years] and I just said ‘nope’ because I felt that the relationship between TNA and I was heading south and they looked at things a lot different than I did. I didn’t see the direction of the company going in the way I thought it was going to go so I said, Let’s just do one year.
I was a little annoyed at certain things that happened during the split with Bubba. They had me sitting at home while they built his singles career. I had to fight for a lot of things. I never really got my just due. There are those that say well, I had the television title but look now. When you go on the air and say I’m going to defend the television title every week on Impact and you do it for the first couple of months and then all of a sudden you don’t do it any more.
It’s not my fault and it’s not the General Manager, Hulk Hogan’s fault because he’s not calling the shots. It’s the guys behind the scenes. We had to take a back seat because of the Bound For Glory qualifiers.
On his recent departure: Once again, same thing, we started this year good and then they just started ripping things from underneath me and a lot of other guys. I made my opinions known. I love Bubba to death. I’m happy for all his success and all but I think TNA didn’t do the right thing by me during the split. There were a whole lot of empty promises that were made that they never came through on.

On being Bubba/Bully Ray's close friend: Can Bubba be a prick? Absolutely. He'll be the first to tell you himself. He'll be the first to tell you he's a jerk. He'll be the first to tell you that he don't like people. There are times where we're traveling together and people will come up to me and talk to me and he will just sit there and he won't say anything. And they'll go, "Hey, Bubba. How are you doing?" And he'll look at me and go, "I just want to know something. Do I have, on my forehead, 'I'm a nice person' printed on it? Let me know so I can erase it." He'll be the first to tell you he'll be difficult when he wants to be.
On his past and present relationship with TNA: I think every company has growing pains. I think TNA is going through that growing pains. [Regarding] my departure from the company, to me it was just time to leave and I have no regrets. I'm very happy with the decision that I have made. I look forward to bigger and better things. [I'm] not saying that TNA wasn't a good thing, it's just that everything runs its course ... it was time for me to move on. If you're in a company for too long ... ideas and things like that don't necessarily register. You're always fighting, trying to get them to understand you and vice versa ... In terms of [TNA] being a family, it all depends on who you ask. I experienced good times there. I've also experienced bad times ... This past August, I did not want to be there. I was ready to move on to the next chapter of my life. I'm not going to say it's dysfunctional. I just think that it's growing pains... I wish them nothing but the best. I miss them dearly, but not enough to go back.
On being the workhorse of The Dudley Boys: I guess a lot of people would say that. You look at all the matches back then and yes and even Bubba would say that. I think that is a fair assessment. Don't get me wrong, Bubba held his own as well, but when it came to all the other stuff and things of that nature, yeah you could say I was the workhorse of the group. But Bubba had a great mind for the business as well. So I think that's where we pretty much evened out ... I think the reason why we lasted as long as we did is because we knew our jobs, we knew what we had to do, we knew [to] make money, and if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. That was one of the things that we both realized very, very early.

"Daniel Bryan, for one. Most people wouldn't put him in that category because he is such a technician in the ring, but I can see him getting down and dirty. Sheamus could be in that category as well. Put Randy Orton there, too. We beat the hell out of each other many times. I know a lot of people cheer him and a lot boo him, but I would put John Cena on that list as well. I had many brawls with him when I was in WWE and he was working himself up in the ranks."
