In 2009, Bryan Danielson was off to WWE/NXT. In the years previous, he was heralded as ‘the best independent wrestler of all time’, and a lot of this happened throughout his Ring of Honor run. At this point in time, Chris Hero had defended the PWG championship 10 times, and in his 11th, it was perhaps his best. Danielson and Hero went almost 60 minutes in what many would argue is the best PWG match of all time. Near falls, blood, the match had everything, and at the end of it Bryan Danielson handed the belt back to Excalibur and retired holding the belt. Danielson came into PWG in 2003 and then wrestled in the company for the next few years, winning the PWG Championship once and forming a partnership and friendship with Paul London at the same time, calling himself the 'American Dolphin'.

In 2011, PWG held it’s last show out of Reseda in California during the WrestleReunion shows, capitalising on the fanbase that was there and holding a ‘classic’ PWG card with one difference – a ‘legends’ battle royal done in Royal Rumble style. With Mean Gene announcing, Iron Sheik, Mr Wonderful and Harley Race stood at ringside. Involved in the match were;

Joey Ryan, a stalwart in PWG since the beginning, and Candice LeRae who joined shortly after it’s inception, became a tag team in mid 2013. The Young Bucks at this point were one of the hottest acts in tag team wrestling anywhere in the world, and alongside their stablemates Adam Cole and Kevin Steen, they were dominant. After unsuccessfully challenging the Bucks for the belts in late 2013, Candice and Joey got another opportunity at the belts the following year, this time in Guerrilla Warfare. Candice had wrestled women previously in PWG, but very scarcely, and was used as a manager for Chris Hero and Human Tornado, while also doing some intergender matches at the same time. It was no secret Candice was at her best when she was working with and bumping for men in the ring, and in doing this she shined. This was the first opportunity where a woman in PWG would prove she could hang with the best of them, and not only that, was one of the most important moments in independent wrestling, as Candice takes a superkick with a thumbtacked boot, an Indytaker on the floor on the outside, eventually ending in a crimson mask.

Colt Cabana made sporadic appearances in PWG from 2004 to 2007, before he was signed to WWE. His final show was at All Star Weekend 5, and this was his return to PWG. Just 24 hours after being fired by WWE, hence his comment on the mic 'Fired on a Friday... PWG on a Saturday'. Colt did a few shows following this in 2009 in PWG before undertaking more independent work.
