SLAM! escreveu:Roberts was a new employee of the WWF, and they rushed him into the Wrestlemania bout. George Wells was a former football player who had not had great luck in his short WWF stay. So why not throw these guys into a Wrestlemania bout? Wells was squashed, and he was not heard from again. Even the drooling Wells at the end of the bout could not save this match.
The Sportster escreveu:The company tried their best to push the ‘Right to Censor’ group, but it failed on all levels. The company gave this bout just about four minutes, and rightfully so, as it didn’t do much for either crew, other than be a filler match on the show which featured an amazing main event between The Rock and Stone Cold. The match ended with Bradshaw giving The Godfather his famous ‘Clothesline from Hell’ to give the fan favorites the win and end the short forgettable bout.
SLAM! escreveu:Planning for this match was non-existent. Every move seemed awkward and poorly executed. The only reason why this match is even remembered is because McIntyre almost lost her top trying a move off the ropes. Moolah won, but the fans lost in the long run.
The Richest escreveu:The Doink character was never quite the same after the original Doink, Matt Bourne, was released from the WWE. Against all odds, Bourne made a clown character in wrestling compelling, portraying an evil clown scaring kids in the audience.
Following the character’s face turn, a succession of wrestlers played a face Doink and the clown was teamed with a little sidekick known as Dink. They took on the team of Bam Bam Bigelow and Luna Vachon. Thankfully this silly affair lasted only six minutes with Dink mostly running to avoid Bam Bam. Bigelow eventually pinned Doink for the win. They then proceeded to attack Dink.
I’ve never quite understood the perception that audiences would enjoy seeing a little person face big wrestlers. This match also happened to follow a wrestling clinic put forth by Bret and Owen Hart, so following that match probably makes this look even worse than it was.
What Culture escreveu:WrestleMania 2 took place across 3 venues and unfortunately for Los Angeles, they drew the short straw by hosting this match. But what can you expect from a match between a cross dresser and a hillbilly?
Many of those on this list are obvious big name candidates and ones likely everybody hates and have no qualms trashing till the end of time. This largely forgotten encounter (either because people never saw it or suppressed the memories) was geared as a harmless filler used to kill time – a very common occurrence in the early years of Mania. This was the worst of the lot.
The match can be summed up by the very first move as Elmer throw an embarrassing punch and fell down backwards himself. Yes, you read that right. Adonis may have been past his physical prime here, having gained a lot of weight, yet he still carried the match against the hugely overweight farmer in his late 40s. Adonis’ tremendous work and selling probably prevents this being even higher on the countdown. Adonis was simply an excellent bump taker.
Lasting a bare 3 minutes, this contained zero entertainment value and accomplished nothing. Scarily though, this is a contender for best Uncle Elmer match and highlight of his career. That just about says it all.
